Award winning documentary film pops up in May
Our Pop Up Picture House has announced their first documentary film will be popping up on the first Friday in May (6th).
Dark Horse is a documentary film which tells the larger than life true story of how a barmaid in a former mining village in South Wales bred a racehorse on her allotment that went on to become a champion. Jan had successfully bred dogs and birds, and believed that she could do the same with a different animal - although she knew nothing about racing and had never been on a horse. Convincing a handful of locals to part with ten pounds a week for her scheme, she found a thoroughbred mare with a terrible racing record for £300, a stallion past his best, put them together and - against all the odds - bred a winner. This film is a rousing, real-life fairy tale made with both heart and humour - a 'must see' !
Doors open at 7pm, and you will have time to buy a drink at the bar before the film starts at 7.30pm. Tickets can be purchased beforehand at Envy Hair salon in Fore Street, Plympton St Maurice, who very kindly act as the box office for the Pop Up Picture House , or on the door. Ticket price is only £4.00 per person.
