Mid - Summer Festival 2025

The Plympton St Maurice Mid Summer Festival took place from 20th to 22nd June 2025 in the beautiful village of Plympton St Maurice, Plymouth, England. This centuries-old tradition once again brought the community together to celebrate local heritage, music, food, and culture.

Friday – Concert at the Guildhall The festival opened on Friday evening with “Summer is a Comin’ In”, performed by the Sir Joshua Reynolds Choir in the historic Guildhall, a building dating back to the 15th century. Guests enjoyed a memorable night of music, with tickets at £7.50 and refreshments available throughout.

Saturday – The Lamb Feast on Castle Green Saturday saw the return of the much-loved Lamb Feast on Castle Green, overlooked by the ruins of the Norman castle. Visitors tucked into lamb rolls and sausages from local butchers, enjoyed live performances from choirs, and watched demonstrations of judo and dancing. Stalls offered crafts, cakes, and plants, while children delighted in games, slides, and face painting. The atmosphere was vibrant, and entry remained free for all.

Sunday – Hidden Gardens & Family Fun On Sunday, a variety of hidden gardens opened their gates to the public for one day only. Each garden showcased its own unique charm, from colourful flowerbeds to vegetable plots and sculptures. Visitors chatted with welcoming owners, enjoyed street performances from Drum Abundance, and children took part in a lively treasure hunt. Tickets were £5 for adults (children free), available from the Guildhall and local lanes, with refreshments served at the church hall.

A Celebration of Community & Heritage The 2025 Mid Summer Festival was a wonderful showcase of Plympton St Maurice’s culture and community spirit. From music and food to hidden gems and family fun, the weekend offered something for everyone.
